What is a Plug-in Hybrid?

2022 Range Rover PHEV Charging

There are a lot of great vehicles on the road today that don’t use the traditional fully gasoline engine. There’s the usual hybrid which just fills up at the pump, there’s the electric vehicle that you plug in at home or at the charging station, but what is a plug-in hybrid? It’s a vehicle that actually takes advantage of both of these forms of fuel, so you have flexibility in North Canton. How does a plug-in hybrid work? We’ve got a guide just waiting for you as well as some new vehicle specials!

How Does a Plug-in Hybrid Work?

As we mentioned earlier, a plug-in hybrid, or PHEV, uses both gasoline and electricity to move forward. That means that a gasoline engine is backed up with an electric motor to provide you power in Massillon.

Here’s the most important thing you need to know: when you’re fully charged, you’ve got a limited amount of range that goes purely on electricity. However, that limited range will run out, after which you’ll switch to gasoline power. However, just like a regular hybrid, that electric motor doesn’t stop working, meaning you also have the benefit of increased fuel economy!
